Another Blog About Outdoor Adventures in the Rocky Mountains?

Just when you think you've read every single blog out there on outdoorsy stuff to do and how to do it in the Rocky Mountains, here comes another one (insert forehead slap here). Well I'd like to think my blog is a little different than all of the rest but I'm a little biased. Let me introduce myself first and you can be the judge!

My name is Jen and I'm currently living out my semi-retired dream in north-western Montana. I originally grew up on the east coast and my love of outdoor adventures started with exploring the mountains and rivers and caves in Appalachia.

While that area was great to learn the ropes of things as a kid, I yearned for bigger and bolder adventures and found myself in Colorado for college. I was training to serve in the military after college so I only got to spend three years in the Colorado Rockies but that was enough to get me hooked!

For the next twenty years I lived in coastal communities as I fulfilled my commitment in the Marine Corps and I only got the chance to get back in the mountains once or twice a year. The itch was always there and I couldn't scratch it near as much as I wanted during those years. When I retired, I decided to head north to the Rocky Mountains of Montana and found a lovely little town outside of Glacier National Park to call my new home. Ever since I've been exploring the wilderness of Glacier National Park and have spent extensive time north of the border in Canada exploring the Canadian Rockies in Banff National Park, Jasper National Park as well as Yoho and Kootenay National Parks.

So What's My Blog About?

My time in the military I was spent as a logistical planner. I called myself a wedding planner for the military because I was resonsible for the plannign and coordination of all the details for major events. Lodging, transportation, food, supplies, budgets, timelines, weather considerations, medical plans, all of it was my responsibility to plan. I absolutely loved my job and I use a lot of the same planning tools and attention to detail when I plan my wilderness adventures.

In my blog I try to give as much detail and planning information as possible so that someone can read it and have a good idea of what to expect from a similar adventure. If you're a fly-by-the-seat-of-your-pants kind of adventurer, you probably won't like my detailed blog posts that have an abundance of information about a hike or activity. But for those out there who think 'knowledge is power', this blog is for you!

Want More Help Planning Than Just a Blog Post?

I know that sometimes planning for trips to National Parks and wilderness adventures can be intimidating and downright scary. If you want more help than just reading through a few blog posts, I can help! I create custom itineraries and do consult calls to help plan all of the details for your trip. Right now I'm only doing itineraries for Banff National Park in Canada but I have some amazing friends who do the same thing for other US National Parks and I can get you in touch with them for your US-based trips.

Fill out my contact form on the home page and let me know which park you're interested in getting an itinerary for and I'll send you details on this service.

Regardless of where or how you choose to adventure, I hope my blog can help shed light on some of the amazing areas I've played in. Hopefully I can insipre you to get outside and go big with your adventures!
